Koena Mitra is an Indian model, actress and has been roped in as one of the participants of Big Boss Season 13 that is the Indianized version of the television reality show Big Brother. After a long hiatus, she is all set to be one of the contestants of Big Boss Season 13. Considering the fact that she will be appearing on screen after a long gap, Koena is sure to keep the audiences hooked on to the show.
Koena rose to fame with the popular song ‘O Saki Saki’ from the Bollywood movie Musafir that was released in the year 2004; the film was produced by Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta.
Koena’s filmography includes Bollywood films such as Aggar, Anamika (Malini), Insan (Sonali Rathod), Apna Sapna Money Money (Julie Fernandez), and Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena (Natasha Kapoor), and Musafir (Lara). For her first film, she did a special appearance for Ram Gopal Verma’s venture Road while featuring in the item number Khullam Khulla.
Also, she has done some regional films. These include Bengali film Besh Korechi Prem Korechi (Kajjal), Tamil film Asal, and another Tamil film Dhool where she made a special appearance in the item number in the item song ‘Koduva Meesai’.
Additionally, she has made special appearances in films such as ‘Heyy Babyy’ and ‘Ayan’ where she featured in title song ‘Heyy Babyy’ and item song ‘Honey Honey’ respectively.
In addition to film roles, Koena has featured in a series of music videos as well. These include Channo, Ishq, Akh Teri, and Aaj Ki Raat.
Furthermore, through the years, Koena was seen in several commercials for renowned brand-names such as Maruti Alto, Clinic All Clear, Mirinda, among other jewelry and beauty brands. Moreover, she has been a part of fashion weeks in Beijing and Milan.
Koena Mitra is a Bengali and was born on 7th January 1984 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. She has completed a major in Psychology. Also, she has attended prestigious institutes such as Lady Brabourne College and Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Moreover, she has received training in western dance styles. Also, she has played sports such as tennis, swimming, and basketball.
In 2001, Mitra was the winner of the beauty pageant Gladrags Mega Model India 2001. Then in the year 2004, she went on to win the title Miss India Intercontinental 2004.
Also, she managed to reach the semifinal rounds of the Miss Intercontinental Pageant in Germany (over 84 countries were participants) where she was one among the top 12 contestants. More so, she was announced as the 1st runner up at the Miss Intercontinental 2014.
