Padmini Kolhapure – the famous Bollywood diva of the 80’s was born on 1 November 1965. She started to act in Bollywood films at tender age of 9 as a child artiste in films like “Zindagi” (1976), “Dream Girl” (1977) and the most popular “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” (1978) as young Roopa.

Padmini Kolhapure is born to a musician – Pandharainath Kolhapure and Nirupama Kohlapure. Her elder sister – Shivangi Kapoor is also an actress who is married to Shakti Kapoor. She also has a younger sister called Tejaswini Kolhapure. Her family hails from Maharashtra’ Kolhapur district and thus they have taken the surname of “Kolhapure”. When Padmini Kolhapure was shooting for “Aisa Pyar Kahan” she fell in love with the film’s producer – Pradeep Sharma (Tutu Sharma). After a short- term courtship they got married in 1986. Both the couple has a son named Priyank Sharma who is also going to debut in Bollywood.

At a young age she gained prominence in Bollywood films with her films like “Insaf Ka Tarazu” (1980) and the romantic tragedy “Prem Rog” (1982). Both the films have won her a Filmfare award each conferring the titled of “Best Supporting Actress” for “Insaf Ka Tarazu” and the “Best Actress” award for “Prem Rog”. She has also enthralled her fans with her performances in “Souten” (1983) and “Pyar Jhukta Nahin” (1985).

Padmini Kolhapur is a hard- working actress who has put work above health. Though she was suffering from fever, she still worked in the romantic film “Do Dilon Ki Dastaan. She has even delivered box – office hits and super- hit movies like Ahista Ahista (1981), Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai (1981), Prem Rog (1982), Star (1982), Vidhaata (1982), Who Saat Din (1983), Lovers (1983), Yeh Ishq Nahin Aasaan (1984), Pyar Jhukta Nahin (1985), Anubhav (1986), Aisa Pyaar Kahan (1986), Muddat (1986), Suhaagan (1986) and many more wonderful movies.

Padmini Kolhapure, lately appeared as supporting cast in many films like Shahid Kapoor’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero (2013), Panipat (2019), etc. She was also bestowed with the Kalakar Achiever Award in 2003 and Screen Best Actress Award for Marathi film – Chimnee Pakhre in 2006. She acted in the Television serial called “Ekk Nayi Pehchaan” in Sony TV in 2014. Padmini Kolhapure also did playback singing for most of her films like Vidhaata, Saat Saheliyan, Intezaar Karenge, Sadak Chaap (with Kishore Kumar). She even performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London with Bappi Lahiri and his group in 1986 for Greater London Council.
