Manoj Bhawuk (Manoj Kumar Singh) is a Bhojpuri actor, television personality, anchor, poet and a screen writer. He was born on 2 January 1976 at Kausar – a small village in Bihar. He is the author of various books which has even fetched him the award of Bhartiya Bhasha Parishad in 2006, especially for his book – ‘Tasveer Zindagi Ke’ – a collection of Ghazals. He is also regarded to be film critic of Bhojpuri movies. He also served as media consultant for Times Now Hindi and is currently working as a writer at Zee Entertainment Enterprises. He is married to Anita Singh and has 2 kids.
Manoj Bhawuk spent his early life at Renukoot in Uttar Pradesh where his father worked at HINDALCO. He completed his schooling from Hindalco H.S. School and obtained diploma in Drama from Bihar Art Theatre (Kalidas Rangalaya), Patna. He also completed his higher education by obtaining engineering degree at the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology. After that, Manoj Bhawuk worked as an engineer at the Pearls Polymers Limited (India), Rwenzory Beverages Limited (Uganda) and Hadam Waters (United Kingdom). After working for some years at Hadam Waters, he returned India to pursue his passion of making a career in media and television industry.
After his return to India, he started to work as a journalist at Doordarshan (Patna Circle). He also ventured into acting with his first Bhojpuri serial ‘Saanchi Piritiya’. After that he also wrote for Bhojpuri serials like ‘Tahre Se Ghar Basaib’ which was telecasted in Doordarshan. Manoj Bhawuk was also expert in poetry. He is the author of various books and his esteemed books like ‘Chalni Mein Paani’ and ‘Tasveer Jindagi Ke’ got bagged with Geetanjali Sahitya Awards. He also worked for Hamar TV as a programming head and an executive producer with Anjan TV – a Bhojpuri GEC channel. In these TV channels he worked in shows like Film Vishesh (a panel discussion with movie actors and actresses), Batkahi (chat show with celebrities), Kavyanjali (poetry show), and many more noted Bhojpuri TV shows. Later, he also worked as creative consultant with the most popular Bhojpuri channel – Mahuaa Plus.
Manoj Bhawuk is known as the king of Bhojpuri television industry who is now associated with Zee Entertainment Enterprises limited now. He is also associated with the development of shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (Hindi) in 1995. He also expanded this popular musical reality show in regional languages like Marathi, Tamil, Telugu. Gujarati, Odia, Bhojpuri, Bengali, etc. Manoj Bhawuk also proved his acting skills in various Bhojpuri films as a supporting actor. He appeared in Bhojpuri films like Saugandh Ganga Maiya Ke (2012) and Rakhwala (2013).
For outstanding contribution to Bhojpuri literature and Bhojpuri television industry, Manoj Bhawuk won many awards and accolades like Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad Award (2006), International Bhojpuri Gaurav Samman (2014), Bihar Kalashri Award, etc. He is also titled ‘Media Ke Sartaaj’ in 2017 by Fame India Magazine and Asian Post Survey. Moreover, he also got the award for Best TV Anchor at Vishwa Bhojpuri Sammelan.
