Rakesh Pandey is an Indian actor who appears in films and television serials. He is known to play various memorable characters in Hindi and Bhojpuri films along with Hindi serials. Rakesh Pandey was born on 1946 and hails from Nahan in the beautiful hilly state of Himachal Pradesh. In his early life, he joined India’s most esteemed acting schools like Indian Film and Television Institute (Pune) and Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA). He also obtained his degree in Dramatics from Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Rakesh Pandey made his debut in Bollywood with Sara Akash (1969). This movie was based upon the novel written by Rajendra Yadav based upon middle- class family woes and social issues. The debut movie of Rakesh Pandey was directed by the famous parallel film director Basu Chatterjee. It also had an ensemble cast of veteran actors like A.K. Hangal and Dina Pathak.
Rakesh Pandey appeared in many Hindi and Bhojpuri films like Do Raha (1971), Anokha Daan (1972), Amar Prem (1972), Intezaar (1973), Ek Gaon Ki Kahani (1975), Yehi Hai Zindagi (1977), Balam Pardesia (1979), Yudh (1985), Taqdeerwala (1995), Brij Kau Birju (1999), Indian (2001), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), and many more innumerable Hindi as well as Bhojpuri films. His contribution in Bhojpuri films also fetched him the Lifetime Achievement Award in 4th Bhojpuri Film Award.
Rakesh Pandey is also well-known television actor who played various types of roles in Hindi and Bhojpuri television serials. He also acted in the first Bhojpuri TV serial called ‘Sanchi Piritia’. In the late 1980’s he started to act in some of the most memorable TV serials like Aakhri Chaal (1985), Saans (1999), Devi (2003), etc. He is also known to play Shaktimaan’s adoptive dad in the super hero series – Shaktimaan in 2002.
He is also known to play Radha’s father in the re-incarnation based hindi serial – ‘Pyar Ke Do Naam: Ek Radha, Ek Shyaam’ (2006). He also appeared serials like Aek chabhi Hai Pados Mein (2006), Choti Bahu (2008), Dahleez (2009) and Jaat Ki Jugni (2017).
