Mahie Gill (Rimpy Kaur Gill) is an Indian film actress who works commonly in Hindi and Punjabi films. She was born on 19 December 1975 in Chandigarh (Punjab) in typical Punjabi Jat family. She pursued her higher education in 1998 from Punjab University, Chandigarh. She has pursued Masters in Theatre. Mahie Gill is a single mother to her daughter named Veronica.
She started her film career in Punjabi films and theatre. After that she bagged the role of Paro in Anurag Kashyap’s critically acclaimed film called “Dev D” opposite Abhay Deol. Her debut in this modern adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Bengali classic novel “Debdas” has given strong recognition in Bollywood. Her role in “Dev D” has fetched her the 2010 Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress. Mahie Gill was also praised for her performance in films like “Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster” and “Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns. Moreover, these films have gained her nomination for Filmfare Awards for Best Actress.
She was also praised for her acting in Ram Gopal Verma’s “Not A Love Story” which was based on 2008 Murder Case of Niraj Grover. Mahie Gill has also acted in hit Bollywood films like Khoya Khoya Chand (2007), Gulal (2008), Dabangg Series, Michael (2011), Paan Singh Tomar (2012), etc. Her most hit Punjabi films are Carry on Jatta (2012), Chak De Phatte (2008), etc.
