Manoj Tiwari is an Indian actor, singer and politician who was born on 1 February, 1971 at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, He spent his childhood especially at the locality of Kabir Chaura in Varanasi. His father’s name was Chandradev Tiwari and mother’s name was Lalita Devi. He also has 5 siblings. His family hails from a rural village of Atarwalia in Kaimur district of Bihar. Manoj Tiwari obtained his M.P. Ed degree at Banaras Hindu University. Earlier, Manoj Tiwari was married for 11 years to his wife Rani. They have a daughter together, but got divorced in 2011.

Before joining politics, Manoj Tiwari started his career as a singer and actor of the Bhojpuri film industry. He made his debut in 2003 with the commercially successful Bhojpuri movie called Sasura Bada Paisawala. This film was highly acclaimed for revitalizing the Bhojpuri film industry. After that he delivered more Bhojpuri super- hit films like Daroga Babu I Love You (2004) and Bandhan Toote Na (2005). He went on to act in more Bhojpuri films like Dharti Putra (2005), Janam Janam Ke Saath (2007), International Daroga (2008), Devra Bhail Deewana (2014) and many numerous Bhojpuri films.

As per the BBC reports in 2005, he is regarded to be the biggest Bhojpuri star alongside Ravi Kishan who charges not less than US $ 90,000 per movie. He also sang for Gangs of Wasseypur and other Bhojpuri films and albums. His peppy Bhojpuri track “Rinkiya Ke Papa” is very popular in North India and Bihar. Manoj Tiwari also appeared in the hot reality TV show Bigg Boss Season 4 in 2010. He also appeared in many TV shows like Bharat Ki Shaan: Singing Stars (2012) in DD National and Welcome- Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki (2013) in Life’s Ok.

Manoj Tiwari started his political career in 2009 as a Samajwadi party candidate and contested from Gorakhpur Lok Sabha. But he lost to Yogi Adityanath. Again, he won the Indian general elections in 2014 as a Delhi BJP candidate. In 2016, Manoj Tiwari became the Delhi BJP president and headed the BJP office in Delhi. Under his leadership, BJP also won the MCD elections in 2017. Later, Manoj Tiwari also won the 2019 general elections and defeated Indian National Congress’s candidate Sheila Dikshit in North East Delhi constituency by a sideline of 3.63 lakh votes.
