The date 1st June 1980 marks the launch of CNN, having its headquarters in Atlanta in the United States. CNN is a pay television channel that broadcasts news in the English language. A multinational news channel, CNN is broadcast in the United States and Canada. CNN International is available throughout the world.

The founders of CNN are Robert Edward Turner and Reese Schonfeld. CNN Worldwide, which is part of AT&T’s WarnerMedia’s WarnerMedia News & Sports division, is the owner of CNN. CNN is hailed for being the first only news channel in the United States and the first channel to provide news all through the day in the US.

In June 2021, CNN was rated third in viewership by Nielson amongst cable news networks; the channel was behind Fox News and MSNBC. Also, CNN was given 14th rank among all basic cable networks.

The weekday schedule of CNN includes rolling news programs during the day; during the prime time and evening hours, the channel shows information programs and in-depth news coverage.

CNN’s weekend schedule consists mainly of documentaries and miniseries. Other weekend programs of CNN include a documentary-based reality series such as United Shades of America and Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.
