In its Delhi Assembly election manifesto, the BJP promised to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women from economically weaker sections under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, once it came to power in Delhi.
Party MP Manoj Tiwari announced on Sunday that the BJP government in Delhi will begin the registration process on March 8 and provide ₹2,500 per month to women from economically weaker sections.
As part of its Delhi Assembly election manifesto, the BJP had pledged to implement the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, offering financial support of ₹2,500 per month to eligible women once in power. Speaking at an event, Tiwari told PTI Videos, “We are starting registrations for our commitment to provide ₹2,500 to financially disadvantaged women in Delhi from March 8.”
A list of beneficiaries will be compiled, and the entire disbursement process is expected to be completed within one and a half months. Tiwari urged women to register for the scheme as soon as possible.
However, the opposition AAP has criticized the BJP government for not approving the scheme in its first Cabinet meeting, as pledged by the Prime Minister. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta defended the delay, blaming the previous AAP administration for leaving behind “empty coffers.” She assured that all promises made by the BJP would be fulfilled.
AAP chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar reminded the BJP of its pre-election commitments, stating, “Before the elections, BJP had promised that every woman in Delhi would receive ₹2,500 in their accounts by March 8.”
